David Cloutier is associate professor of moral theology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. A graduate of Carleton College and Duke University, he is the author of a number of books, including The Vice of Luxury: Economic Excess in a Consumer Age (from Georgetown University Press) Walking God’s Earth: The Environment and Catholic Theology, and Reading Praying Living Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ (both from Liturgical Press). His writing has appeared in Commonweal, America, and US Catholic, among other popular publications, and he edits the academic group blog catholicmoraltheology.com. He also served for 8 years as President of the Board of Directors of The Common Market, a thriving consumer food co-operative in Frederick, Maryland.
