First time at Earth Day Texas? We’re excited to have you! We’ve picked out just a few of the amazing things happening this weekend at Earth Day Texas that we think are must-sees for every Earth Day Texas newcomer.
Take the Pledge and go D.E.E.P!
At Earth Day Texas, we are passionate about protecting the environment and creating a more sustainable future. We have made it a priority at this year’s event to tackle the most pressing environmental issues and bring them to the forefront of our discussion at Earth Day. That’s why we created Project D.E.E.P and the Pollinator Accelerator.
Project D.E.E.P. was introduced this year to engage the global community and educate them on ocean conservation and protection from plastic pollution. Attend one of our many panels or workshops and learn how to combat single-use plastic or pack a bathing suit and learn how to scuba dive in our on-site diving pool!
In our Pollinator Accelerator program, you can take the Citizens’ Pollinator Pledge and learn how you can make a substantial difference in pollinator health and habitat protection. Buzz on into The HIVE and join in the conversation with premier organizations focused on pollinator protection, attend workshops and more. You won’t want to miss the release of hundreds of butterflies in the Texas Discovery Gardens either. This spectacle will happen each day at noon.
Stroll Through the Grand Place Building
The Grand Place building will house hundreds of vendors each with a unique take on sustainably
crafted and eco-friendly items for your home and garden. It’s also where you will see incredible eco-friendly fashion from couture styles to everyday streetwear. Stroll through the rows of exhibitors each with a unique offering and shared passion for a better world.
See a screening at the EarthXFilm Festival
We are very excited to debut our environmental film festival, EarthXFilm, at Earth Day Texas. Make sure to catch a screening of at least one of the hundreds of films offered this year from film creators from all over the world who are passionate about environmental conservation. There will be screenings each day of the event and you can see the full lineup of films as well as a daily schedule of screenings here.
Eats (and drink)!
Food trucks, farmer’s markets, sustainable beer gardens and more! Choose from one of the delicious
food trucks we’ll have lined up all for you with a variety of eats to satisfy every lifestyle. Head to the Tower building and sample your heart out from chocolate to jerky all from local folks who love what they do and the recipes they create themselves. Stop by the Savor Food Garden and taste all the locally sourced goodness that is not only good for you but good for the planet. And finally, don’t forget to enjoy a cold one at the EarthxBeer Garden.
Discover the Next Big Thing Right in your Backyard
Bop to the beat of a fantastic lineup of local Texas artists all weekend long at the EDTx Music Stage presented by KXT Radio and 13th Floor Music. We’ve got something for everyone with a variety of artists spanning across multiple genres. So bring a blanket and claim your spot on the grass in front of the stage or get groovy and dance along! Check out the full lineup of artists as well as the daily schedule here.
Tiny House. Big Impact.
One of the most popular exhibits every year at Earth Day Texas is our Tiny House exhibit. This year we will have a whole host of tiny homes in our Tiny House Village that have come in from all over the country for EDTx exhibitors to tour. We are excited to have B.A. Norrgard, creator and founder of the Tiny House Collaborative and owner of A Bed Over My Head coming to Earth Day Texas! In addition to the village, we will have Tiny House workshops perfect for the DIYer. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these amazingly tiny homes, and learn about this perfect sustainable lifestyle.
No matter if this is your first visit to EDTx, we know you’ll have a great time! To plan your day, visit the event schedule, scroll through our event guide and visit our frequently asked questions to learn more!
