Carbon Removal: The Road to COP26

Carbon removal at scale, utilizing existing and emerging natural and technological solutions, is a critical third pillar of global climate transformation, especially when linked effectively with substantially accelerated and augmented mitigation and adaptation efforts.  There is a growing set of initiatives from stakeholders across sectors – governments, international organizations, corporations, civil society groups, academic institutions and others – to dramatically advance carbon removal efforts worldwide. 

A Global Carbon Removal Task Force has been established to launch a transformative multi-stakeholder SDG17 Global Partnership on Carbon Removal to be launched by COP26.  Come hear about an UNGA Resolution and get engaged in innovations being advanced in the areas of solutions, policies, investments, and other critical areas for global carbon removal.

A major announcement by the Government of Kenya from the session is that the United Nations General Assembly Resolution by Kenya acknowledging Climate Restoration as the third pillar of climate action and specifically the call for Carbon Removal to be a critical element of COP 26.
