Wednesday, June 9 | 7:00 PM CDT – 7:30 PM CDT (8:00 PM EDT – 8:30 PM EDT)
Duration: 30 min
Program Description: This series highlights manufacturers of furniture, textiles, and other materials who are demonstrating circular, regenerative, and sustainable practices. Designers have a major responsibility to make healthy choices, and educate consumers about which materials and products are harmful to the environment. These industry pioneers seek to replace the end-of-life concept with restoration, shift toward renewable energy, eliminate the use of toxic chemicals, and importantly, aim to eliminate waste.
Episode Description: Founded in France in 1987, Jouffre upholstery soon expanded to the US and has been known as one of the most impeccable upholstery and furniture companies around. At the urging of their teams, Charles and Romain Jouffre started reinventing the way they produce, moving to sustainable solutions such as water-based glue, FSC-certified wood, and recyclable foam. Because their employees were so passionate about moving to healthier materials and more sustainable practices, it became a priority for Charles and Romain as well, and now it’s a company-wide culture.
