March For Science Mission and Activities
Moderator: Briana Carbajal
Chet Monday is a 19 year old organizer from Dallas, TX who serves as the Director of Youth Engagement for March for Science. Chet has been involved in activism and organizing since high school, when he organized a school wide walkout. He now works to increase amplification and connectivity across the youth climate and science space. He is the campaign manager for March for Science’s two signature campaigns, and when he isn’t working, he’s juggling.
Andrea Nguyen was recently inducted a March for Science fellow this past March and is helping to organize March for Science’s satellite groups to promote active and collaborative public engagement in holding policymakers accountable to evidence-based, science-backed public policy. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in December 2019 with degrees in Anthropology and Markets Culture. In her time at Southern Methodist University, Andrea also attained a minor in Human Rights and has been involved at the intersection of sustainability and equity, with a particular interest in climate-smart transportation.
Briana Carbajal, 20 years old, is a third-year undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a double major in Political Science and Geography/Environmental Studies. She makes environmental issues a priority and strives to positively influence US federal sustainability policies in the near future. Currently, Briana is a researcher for the Sustainable LA Grand Challenge, a member of the first ever Los Angeles Mayor’s Youth Council for Climate Action, and a founding member of One Up Action, a nonprofit organization focused on getting people involved in taking climate action within their own communities. Last year, Briana was a delegate for C40’s World Mayors Summit and had the opportunity to discuss ways to combat climate change with leaders from around the globe.
