Taegen Yardley, a young activist filmmaker, speaks on the importance of environmental education and inspiring change in the youth so that we may live to see a brighter future.

Taegen Yardley began making documentaries at age 12 to raise awareness about the plight of our planet’s most critically endangered species, the impact of decreasing biodiversity and critical issues. Today, the 17-year-old’s short films have been shown around the world and have earned her annual invitations to speak at the United Nations, The Department of the Interior, and the National Geographic Society. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uses her films in courses being taught in San Salvador, Budapest, Vietnam and Gaborone. Taegen was awarded Interpol’s “Fostering Partnerships in Conservation: Bridging Civil Society and Government Action” award which was presented by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. Most recently, she became the recipient of Action for Nature’s “2019 International Young Eco-Hero Award”. Taegen is an ambassador for The Perfect World Foundation in Gothenburg, Sweden. She is working to show today’s youth that there is power in their voices and that the ripple effect that young voices create can help us to build a more sustainable, environmentally viable, and biodiverse world for all of the creatures who call it home.
Tiana Sirmans is an amazing junior journalist and correspondent. At just 8 years old, Tiana became the youngest reporter for “TIME Magazine for Kids” for the 2018-2019 school year, where here assignments included Disneynature’s Penguins and the book, “Disaster Strikes”. Tiana is also a film critic for Kids FIRST! and loves watching movies and helping parents and kids decide if they should see it. In addition, she loves to use her voice to spread kindness and awareness about protecting our planet Earth. She has a passion for meeting people and learning new things. Tiana is a bright young lady with an even brighter future. From journalism, to film critiques, and youth advocacy, Tiana serves as an inspiration to us all. She will certainly go on to make a difference in the world.
