Description: The Global EverGreening Alliance and its member organisations are working to Green Up and Cool Down the planet. The audacious goal? To restore 500 million hectares of degraded lands worldwide and capture 20 billion tons of CO2 annually from the atmosphere by the year 2050. Through a massive collaborative effort, and by bringing together thousands of fragmented efforts, we can reverse climate change.

Dr. Dennis Garrity: UN Drylands Ambassador; Chairman, Global EverGreening Alliance  (GEA)

Dr. Dennis Garrity, is one of the world’s leading agroforestry specialists and Chairman of the Global Evergreening Alliance (GEA). Dr. Garrity will present an overview of GEA and the EverGreening the Earth campaign, and moderate the Q&A at the end of the one-hour presentation.

Chris Armitage: CEO, Global EverGreening Alliance

Christopher Armitage is the CEO of the Global EverGreening Alliance, through which he is coordinating large scale land restoration programmes in Australia, Africa, Latin America and South Asia. In his keynote, Chris highlights the importance of collaboration to overcome issues of fragmentation in development efforts worldwide, and how we can overcome this issue through knowledge sharing and data monitoring. 

Alice Ruhweza: Director, Global EverGreening Alliance; Africa Regional Director, WWF

With decades of valuable experience in data-driven policy making in the environmental field, Alice presents current efforts to restore degraded lands in Africa under the African Union’s initiative AFR100 and the vital work of the Global EVerGreening Alliance to scale up these efforts even further. 

Daniela Ibarra-Howell: Co-Founder and CEO, Savory Institute

With over 25 years of international experience in ranching, Holistic Management, and collaborative ecosystem restoration programs, Daniela’s keynote highlights the potential of collaborative efforts for the large-scale restoration of grasslands to tackle global food and water security, and climate change issues. 

Felix Finkbeiner: Founder, Plant for the Planet

Felix Finkbeiner is a 22 year-old from Germany. Inspired by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Wangari Maathai, Felix founded Plant-for-the-Planet when he was 9 years old. Plant-for-the-Planet has already planted 15 billion trees in more than 130 countries around the world and it’s working with the Global EverGreening Alliance to jointly monitor and track land restoration efforts currently underway.
