Global Plasticity Forum comes to Earth Day Texas

Scalable, sustainable solutions and market opportunities for transforming
plastic waste into a valuable resource

For immediate release

DALLAS (March 9, 2017) – The Plasticity Forum is returning to the United States this year, and will feature Plasticity Texas for the first time as part of Earth Day Texas, the world’s biggest Earth Day event.  This important and unique international plastics sustainability conference focuses on the future of the material, without the waste footprint.

“We are pleased to feature Plasticity at Earth Day Texas for the first time to have a meaningful discussion about the future of plastic, and showcase how organizations from around the world are successfully reducing their environmental impact,” said Jeff Dye, who manages the environmental stewardship programs at Earth Day Texas.

The event’s theme, “Innovating for Scale, Recovery & Reuse,” is part of the big conversation on the future of plastic that Plasticity brings to the event, discussing where opportunities can be created related to recycled content, resource recovery, circular design, job creation and waste reduction. Featured as an exclusive, ticketed B2B summit, Plasticity Texas will host its unique one-day business forum on April 21st, and an open-to-the-public summary “Deep Dive” event on April 22nd, convening global experts/executives from across the plastic spectrum to share experiences on the opportunities and challenges related to the future of plastic.

Plasticity Texas will include discussions on topics such as:

  • Designing for recycling & standardization of materials

  • Opportunities in manufacturing for the use of recycled content

  • Innovations that reduce plastic waste impact & improve brand value

  • Reverse supply chains, bring-back programs & how to engage your customers
  • Scaling for circular economies within industrial & municipal environments

  • Turning waste streams into profit streams

  • The recycling tipping point – transforming public beliefs and actions

Every year, 280 million tons of plastic is produced globally, but research indicates less than 15 percent is recycled each year. With a growing focus on plastic pollution and the challenges it presents, the Plasticity Forum brings together motivated, like-minded experts from across the plastics spectrum to discuss the opportunities that can result as solutions are introduced.
“Earth Day Texas is an excellent event for the content of Plasticity to be shared, as plastic pollution is one of the biggest challenges facing our communities, yet it offers some great opportunities for companies, entrepreneurs and innovators if they can help to be part of the scaled solutions that are needed.  These joint events bring thought leaders from around the world together to collaborate on such solution-creating initiatives,” says Doug Woodring, Plasticity’s founder.

After launching in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, and staging six successful events so far, including in Shanghai and London last year, Plasticity is excited to be part of the Earth Day Texas forum of events. This story from the 2015 Plasticity Portugal provides a taste of the event, and the event website offers video clips and additional details.

“Every day, plastics help us do more with less, and plastic makers from around the world are committed to delivering solutions that improve life. The World Plastics Council supports events like Plasticity because they connect thought leaders and innovators, and enable all of us to unlock potential,” said Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, SABIC, Chairman World Plastics Council.

Who should attend: Brand leaders and innovators, manufacturers and retailers, biopolymer and resin makers, designers, packaging producers, waste-to-fuel companies, angel investors, entrepreneurs, government agencies and policy makers, and educators and think tanks.
