Shreya Ramachandran, a Californian high school student, saw the impacts of drought firsthand in her state in 2014.

To alleviate the impact of drought, and to preserve our water supply, Ramachandran advocates for the reuse of gray water, lightly used water that can be recycled and reused from bathrooms and washing machines for secondary purposes.

She recommends a DIY system that reroutes water from your washer so that it can irrigate your lawn or plants.
