STAND LA

STAND-L.A. is an environmental justice coalition of community groups that seeks to end neighborhood drilling to protect the health and safety of Angelenos on the front lines of urban oil extraction.

We are concerned residents, good neighbors, communities of faith, environmental justice champions, researchers, nurses, students, mothers and fathers.

Above all, we are Angelenos.

We believe that the City of Los Angeles is responsible for protecting every Angeleno from the health and safety risks associated with drilling for oil in close proximity to our homes, schools and places of work. Our communities—not oil and gas corporations—should have the power to shape a safe and healthy future for their families and for Los Angeles.

Founded informally in 2013, our coalition officially formed one year later around the name STAND-L.A. Our Steering Committee members are:

  • Communities for a Better Environment (Co-Chair)
  • Physicians for Social Responsibility – Los Angeles (Co-Chair)
  • Esperanza Community Housing Corporation
  • Holman United Methodist Church
  • Redeemer Community Partnership
  • Strategic Concepts in Organizing and Policy – Los Angeles
  • Black Women for Wellness

With support from our strategic partner:

  • Liberty Hill Foundation
