“People, Planet, and Profit” Legal Symposium, April 20-21

Environmental thought leaders with diverse perspectives discuss legal issues when charting a course to a protective, sustainable, and productive future

DALLAS (April 3, 2017) – Earth Day Texas (EDTx), in collaboration with the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, announces a unique and timely Legal Symposium, to be held on April 20-21, 2017 at Fair Park in Dallas.  Sponsored by Domtar Corporation and Fox Rothschild LLP, the symposium includes a series of discussions of environmental thought leaders with diverse perspectives on relevant legal issues reconciling environmental protection and economic development, as well as issues of interest in today’s political climate.

Earth Day Texas 2017 Legal Symposium will present a lively discussion that may inspire legal and other environmental professionals to move beyond compliance toward a voluntarily sustainable future. The State Bar of Texas has approved the Legal Symposium for seven hours of CLE credit, including two hours of ethics. All topics and speakers are listed on the Earth Day Texas/Legal Symposium website.

Panelists from science, industry, academia, non-government agencies and government will discuss the following topics:

  • Integrating science into regulatory decision-making
  • Reconciling energy and economic development with protection of the public health and the environment
  • Facilitating resolution of environmental disputes associated with development
  • Integrating corporate sustainability and ethical considerations into corporate decision-making
