Aaron Holton

Aaron Holton is a Principal at MHR Fund Management in New York. MHR is a private equity fund with a long-term track record of investing across the capital structure in distressed and deeply undervalued middle-market companies and assets across a variety of industries. The firm was founded in 1996 and manages over $5 billion of capital.

At MHR, Mr. Holton takes a hands-on approach in working alongside the firm’s portfolio companies to streamline operations, identify opportunities for growth, and drive performance throughout the investment lifecycle, with a focus on effectuating successful exits.

Mr. Holton currently serves on the board of Darling Fibers, a polyester staple fiber manufacturer in South Carolina. He has worked alongside management on a strategic pivot of that business to a sustainable product mix, including carbon neutral, recycled and bio-based polyester. The company also announced the formation of Darlington Green, a 765-acre campus that it hopes to establish as a sustainability hub for textile and packaging manufacturing and related research, development and innovation.

Prior to joining MHR, Mr. Holton was the co-founder and CEO of a maritime-focused software company, whose main products helped optimize the operating and environmental efficiency of ships. He was able to successfully scale that business and exited to a private equity backed platform in 2021.

Mr. Holton also spent nearly 15 years as a management consultant, where he worked with public sector, strategic and private equity clients across the energy, industrials, technology and real estate sectors, among others.
